Rockingham - Round 2

After a disappointing first round Ant was more determined than ever. Free practice on Friday enabled the drivers to have an understanding of where they stood in the field of 43 eager Clio racers. Ant was placed just above the halfway point.

Saturday's qualification session saw Ant sitting at 14th out of 22 for the short qualification race later that day. He was still focused on making it through the knockout race and getting in to the point scoring race.

A relaxed but focused approach saw Ant get a brilliant jump off the start line and rocket up to 8th place immediately. After a long battle with both Andrew Bentley and Jamie Cleland, Ant was leading the pair until the final laps where he was pipped by the duo, but was happy to accept 10th position from 22 starters.

Already Ant had showed significant improvement. Sunday's race, and round 2 of the championship, saw a coming together between Fildes and Cleland. Ant managed to just about get the car stopped and avoid the pair of them who were just in front of him. however a hard fought first lap saw him sitting in 15th out of the 38 starters. Ant had sustained some damage through some contact at turn 4 which was causing heavy under steer through the tighter corners. He was starting to come under some major pressure from behind in the form of Michael Doyle.

Ant managed to keep the experienced clio driver and championship contender at bay which showed some good race craft. Ant ended up taking 15th place overall and was delighted with the weekends work.
