Ant knew that this weekend was going to be very closely contested, this was then confirmed after qualifying. A staggering 22 cars were within 9 tenths of a second! Ant managed to wriggle free of the bunch in qualifying and find some empty track and soon after he had banged in a couple of quick lap times and was sitting in P8 out of the 38 car field. He took a lap out to let the tyres cool and the car to recover before setting off on another flying lap. However this lap didn’t turn out how he had hoped and after controlling a 5th gear 100mph sideways slide at turn one, for what seemed to be an eternity, he simply ran out of track and found himself hurtling towards the cornfields! The car bounced over the bumpy ground before taking off and ripping the bumper away from the car.

Scragg took about 7 minutes to get back to the pits by which time most of the qualifying period was over and he had slipped down the order to 25th position. This was where he ended up. Ant was not happy about starting this far down the grid, but he was lucky to have a car in any sort of condition to race after his little incident.

The Saturday race saw Scragg get a trademark good start and made several positions up off the line. The youngster battled hard throughout the race to finish a remarkable 15th! Quite a result considering his starting position.

Sunday did not quite bring the same rewards however. Another excellent start saw Scragg rubbing the rear bumper of Carl Bradley's car as they raced away from the line, but when Bradley swerved off the track on to the grass Scragg was greeted with a spinning car returning to the centre of the track after a heavy impact with the pit wall. The 20 year old had no time to react and was instantly put out of the race with a broken axel and E-bracket. As if this was not enough he was rammed from behind too, a reflection of the speed at which the accident had occurred.

Scragg walked away from the weekend with a few points from Saturday's race and knowing that yet again his race pace and race craft is improving, but also with a heavily damaged car. Hopefully it can be repaired in time for the Test day which is imminent.
